JANET'S BIG ADVENTURE

“It's good to be just plain happy, it's a little better to know that you're happy; but to understand that you're happy and to know why and how and still be happy, be happy in the being and the knowing, well that is beyond happiness, that is bliss.” Henry Miller

New Family Picture

We haven't all been together in one place since November 2006. The Musick-Jergins family has had a new addition since then, as Josh married Garolyn over a year ago. This picture was taken on a very cold, windy day on December 27, the day that we celebrated Christmas. We had a nice brunch, with Granny and Papaw and Bibby present. After the pictures, Josh, Jonathan and Garolyn left to take in a movie. Amanda stayed behind to visit with Granny and Papaw.
As she began asking about family history, Papaw got a twinkle in his eye and began talking about his service in the military. It turns out that he served on the USS Piedmont in Japan just after WWII. He visited Hiroshima and viewed the damage following the atomic blast. He visited a resort in the mountains of Japan, but denies any contact with Geisha women. ( I dont think Granny believes this lack of experience on his part.) He and his buddies "borrowed" from a damaged box of roller skates and skated on the deck of his ship. We really got a glimpse of the boy inside the man.
My best part of Christmas was having time with family. Amanda was generous with her time and spent an entire week with us here in Texas.
May God bless all of our children. Give them direction and peace in 2009.

WELL it is about time you updated your blog...just kidding!

Love the family picture and what a sweet story! I too enjoyed Amanda's company back in Texas over the holidays.

Hey Janet-
Good to know you are blogging! The family picture is so cute, what a good looking family. I wish I could have come home for the holiday to see Amanda. Did she tell you we are moving back to Abilene when my husband graduates law school? I never thought I would move back to Abilene!
