JANET'S BIG ADVENTURE

“It's good to be just plain happy, it's a little better to know that you're happy; but to understand that you're happy and to know why and how and still be happy, be happy in the being and the knowing, well that is beyond happiness, that is bliss.” Henry Miller

Phillip's Left Knee

After having to miss out on this summer's vacation at the beach at Ft. Morgan, AL, due to a blood clot behind his knee, and too much pain and stiffness to travel, Phillip has decided that it is time to take a risk: knee replacement surgery!

Phillip and I just spent his last weekend with his original knees.   Wednesday morning we go to Hendrick Medical Center and trust Dr. Jeremy Britton with his knee.  Last Friday, we went to Bone School, and got a huge notebook full of resources and instructions for how to care for him during surgery.  Phillip will soon be my Bionic Man, and will have a $10,000 prosthetic.  He wants  the new lump of miracle metal and artificial cartilage to end up in his left knee, as indicated by his pointing finger tips.

The right knee will be next, but he nixed the idea of replacing both at the same time.  I think that was a great decision.  I am hoping and praying that this procedure will be a huge success and his pain level will soon be much improved.

So here goes a big deal for my sweet husband.  He has lived with a lot of pain for the past decade.  Here's hoping that this next decade will feel a lot better.

Be sure to post a picture of his right-knee artwork this Wednesday! (Last night at church, we were contemplating what he could write or draw on the NON-operation knee...and it seemed like he was leaning toward the international symbol for NO! with the red circle and line through it. LOL)

I'm sure we will do that! At least in this case, he does need both knees done, so it would just be a little out of order. The prayers meant a lot last night as well!
