My favorite of Martin Seligman's happiness interventions is to Savor A Beautiful Day. Philosopher's Notes summarized the procedure, so read that for more information. Here are the simple steps: 1. Share it! 2. Build memories. 3. Congratulate yourself! 4. Sharpen the experience. 5. Compare the experience. 6. Be absorbed! 7. Block interference. 8. Enhance your attention.
We spent Memorial Day weekend preparing for my son's wedding. The central occasion was the bridal shower at Sarah's home church in Grapevine. We also were looking forward to meeting Matthew's new in-laws.

At least fifty women showed up for the shower and bestowed many lovely gifts. Amanda baked cookies and decorated them, a two-day process with a lot of love and thought devoted to it. Afterwards, we met with Sarah's parents at Tolbert's in Grapevine. Good news, we really liked her parents.
